First Home #1: First Splurges

So I am currently in the process of trying to get a house. The waiting is not fun... but I'll tell you what is fun. Finding furniture... aside from my college rooms I have decorated one apartment & the house we rent now. The truth is... I hate the interior decor. Absolutely hate it. When finding things to put in the house I focused more on price than what I liked... which ultimately led to a house filled with things I liked for about 2.5 milliseconds, which is totally pointless because while I may have saved money in the short run I wasted money in the long run because I have only used the things for a few months before giving the stuff to Good Will. So while decorating our first home I am not going to do this anymore. I know if I do this I will save money in the long run. Here are my first two big splurges. And even though I say big it's not really that big, but big for me. Baby steps first right? The chair was only $130 and the mirror was from Joss & Main and was on sale for $138 and after refreshing the page about 200 times in an hour I finally was able to get the last mirror available!!!!

I am pretty excited to get both of these in the mail! I have been eyeing ghost chairs for forever and knew I wanted one in my home office. I also loved this mirror. I love the shape and the girliness of it. It will also be in my home office. I have a vision and I hope it comes out as pretty as it is in my head. I know I want one striped accent wall in a dark almost black navy color, with the other walls being totally navy. White crown molding. A pretty chandelier. Shelves with the dark color in the back. A bold graphic print rug. Maybe trellis or chevron or scallops? Maybe a bright yellow? I want lots of framed wedding inspiration to create a gallery wall. And I am going to revamp our current dining room table and paint it black so that I have a large desk area. Cannot wait!

Anyway, come back often to see updates on our first home!

Sundays at Home #12: Updated Dining Room Idea

Two Sundays at Home posts today?!?!?!?
Oh yeah... :)

Sundays at Home #12: Updated Dining Room Idea

Now I am no interior designer, so please don't be harsh or too critical of my ideas.
& I am still finding my interior design style.
I mean if it were up to me I'd hire an interior designer.
But I don't really have that kind of extra cash floating around.
Someday!! LOL.
Anyway, I have updated/changed the decor in the house so many times.
From light blue to turquoise to now navy...
Which I think hope is here to stay...
But anyway...
the color palette I am thinking of is navy, neutrals and a light lavender.
Emphasis on very light purple... I showed my bf my inspiration
& he said AHHH too girly. I said okay okay let me make the purple paler.
And I have been wanting to change the chairs & table since we got them...
But I can't complain since we bought the table & chairs off Craig's List for cheap!
I love bold graphics & prints and love the look of the horizontal striped curtains.
I think/hope this would be an easy DIY project...
And I want BIG GOLD picture frames with graphic prints inside for the wall.
I didn't add much because I don't want to spend anymore than $100 on this update.
I already have the black paint...
Think it's possible to spend $100 on 2 frames, white paint, navy fabric,
white curtains, & lavender fabric paint???
I think it's totally do-able... we'll see though...
I hope someday I can make my house beautiful enough that people will be inspired by it!
A girl can dream right? :)

Home Tour #1: Shelf Decor

Disclaimer: {Before looking at the images let me be the first to say,
I need to find my camera charger!!!! My iPhone is taking blurry photos lately!! Poo!}

I am no professional interior decorator...
Just a girl trying to make our home beautiful,
I have been having a blast decorating our house
These shelves are the first thing I am completely done with,
so they are the first thing I will be sharing!!! :)
Except I really hate the fake white flowers, I need to find something else to put in there.
These shelves are in our living room on this hugeeeee wall...
Our living room has a kinda but not really beachy feel to it
& is turquoise and gold and a day ago I decided to bring in a touch of lime green.

When I bought those pom balls at Target the checker laughed at me.
Not even kidding... she was like hahaha what are these?!?!
I didn't know what to say, but hey I thought they were super cute.
I wanted to start recycling bottles & painting them to use as vases
But I sorta liked the look of the Jack Daniel's label so just decided to leave it be
& remember the mason jars from this post?!
The seahorse candle holder & flower vase is from Kirkland's.
The little painting was like $6 bucks at Home Goods
& I think that lantern is from Target.
The lovely plant is from my lovely boyfriend & the bucket used to be hot pink
So I obviously had to spray paint that...
The frame with the picture in it is from a mural I used to have in my old bedroom,
I had 9 frames with images from wedding magazines :)
I like to be surrounded by good inspiration, so instead of packing them away
I decided to use them for this shelf & the bookshelf in the corner.
I might change the images in them later, but for now I really like them.

Anyway, I just got done crafting my herringbone artwork!!!!!
5 hours later...
Post coming tomorrow {later today...}
