Sundays at Home #14: Bedroom Decor

The bf & I... well mostly I am redecorating our bedroom.
I wanted something a little more sophisticated with more character.
And I wanted girly but manly all at the same time.
So think neutrals with maybe a splash of some pink....
And it needs to have things we both love.
I love snowboarding & so I want something that represents that to me.
And my boyfriend loves the beach (I do too but I mean he really loves the beach)
So I want there to be a touch of the beach too.
So far it is coming along great & I love the changes we've made.
It will definitely take awhile though considering I don't want to spend a lot of money all at once.
I can't wait until it's all done, but I think I know in the back of my head it will never be all done.
I feel like home decorating is something that I will always be updating & changing.
But anyway... for now this is my inspiration :)

Sundays at Home #14: Bedroom Decor

Oh and the bf & I just bought a baker's rack to make the cabana closet!
I have yet to find the perfect fabric but am thinking of doing a more neutral shade...
I am real nervous & hope it turns out as gorgeous as that one!
I absolutely adore the beachy feel it gives to a room without being too over the top.
But anyway, I have lots to do before I will ever share any pictures of our room now :)
I am off to bed now! Sweet dreams ya'll!

Sundays at Home #13: Bathroom Organization

My boyfriend hates all my cosmetics and what not sitting on the counter.
So I've been trying to figure out how/what to put them in for some organization...
I think cake stands & plates are maybe the cutest ideas I've found...

Sundays at Home #13: Bathroom Organization

How do you organize your makeup, beauty products, jewelry, etc.??
Right now I have my makeup in my makeup bag, which is perfectly good for me...
I have my beauty products I use every once in a while in a basket...
My straightener, curling iron, crimper (LOL), & blow dryer are in a matching basket...
My jewelry is in the tackiest pink plastic container that I got from Target... LOL
But then the beauty products I use daily are just all over the sink...
Home Goods here I come to buy a cute cake tray & some plates! :)
Have a great Sunday yall!

Solution to the Ridiculously Large Living Room Wall

So remember like a week ago when I was sooo confused about how to decorate this massive wall in my living room? No, well that's okay you can read the post here. Well, I was so lucky because Courtney at Little Moments contacted me! And she made an amazing layout & I am seriously so in love!!! You guys are going to love it!! She created 2 inspiration looks, one with a new TV stand and a 2nd bookshelf, and the other with my existing TV stand and a 2nd pair of floating shelves. Which look do you all like better??? I can't wait to get back & actually finish the living room decor!

I love how she was able to use my current style & what I love
And incorporate it into what I already have.
It's funny because I actually have those exact chevron tan pillows!
And my old bedroom had orange accents & I really loved it.
I love the idea of the side tables and what!?!? They're only $18!?
That is so do-able... And I could even put some plants on them!
Ahhh, I love it. Anyway you all need to go check out her blog
Here is a link to her Design & DIY info!
I love the navy backed shelves a lot & I definitely want to do that to our shelves.
I think I'm going to go with the bottom design though since our tv stand is new,
But I do really love that white one! And for $199 that is sooo affordable!
I definitely need to get some more shelves for the other side.
And I'm slowly transitioning all the turquoise into navy with some handy dandy spray paint. :)
I can't wait to show pictures after I do some remodeling & get some of those orange tables!!!
Thank you Courtney!!!! You rock!! :)

Calling all Interior Designers/Aspiring Interior Designers...

I need your help..
I have a big problem.
A big blank wall.
SUPER BIG.
And I don't know how to fill it.
And I've tried putting something rectangular over the TV
But the distance between the shelves on the left & the shelves on the right looked so off-balanced that I just don't think something rectangular will work & I truly don't know what to do.
I personally think the shelves on the right need to go away, but then what do I put there?
I don't have a huge budget & would prefer to really not have to spend too much.
So this is where you come in!
I am looking for an interior designer or a student in interior design or just anyone who loves interior design to help me!!! I want need your help!!
So if you are interested in writing/creating a guest post to help me fix this big problem
I would love to post it & also add a link/ad to your blog on my sidebar!
And not only that but use your advice and show the before/after pictures!!!
E-mail me at nschwalge@gmail.com if you are interested or have any questions!
Now to the ugly ugly ugly living room that makes me cringe on a daily basis.
I am not liking the turquoise at all anymore
& would like to slowly get rid of it and add navy blue instead...
And well any other accent color. I just need advice in general & am open to any suggestions
That will make this house/room more beautiful!!!!
:)

{Please forgive the poor quality of the photo, I used my iPhone since I lost my camera charger..}

I would seriously love love love any help or advice!!!!!
Because I have tried & tried again and I am stumped & stumped again...
:(
Do any of you guys have a trouble spot in your house you just can't get right??

Amish Friendship Bread

Yesterday I got a package in the mail.
From a very quirky, emphasis on quirky friend from college.
Now this friend is pretty freaking amazing.
We met when I was a freshman rushing for Alpha Phi, the sorority I joined.
Ahhh no words can describe how silly/crazy/cool/fun/awesome Terra is.
She is also one of my few friends from real life who has a blog like me!
Check her's out here! It's pretty freaking cool.

I mean really freaking cool, here's some of my favorite pictures of us from college.
I think it shows just how quirky & amazing & freaking awesome not only Terra is,
But our friendship too! :) I think of Terra as someone I will stay friends with for forever.
{Disclaimer: SORRY TERRA if this embarrasses you!!!!}

Now back to the package...
First, this was my expression while opening the package...

And this is what was in the package...

So today I added the sugar & milk & mashed it up!
Come back in 4 days to see the end results!!!!
Bet you wish you had a friend like Terra now eh??
Thanks Terra bo Berra you da best!!!

Voodoo Doughnut Love

I have spent the last 2 days making DOUGHNUTS. Not edible doughnuts. But graphics of doughnuts in Adobe Illustrator. I have to make a menu for my project on Voodoo Doughnuts & so I came up with the brilliant hard, difficult & extremely time-consuming task of making a little graphic of every single doughnut they have. That comes to a total of... 43 doughnuts not counting the Texas Challenge Doughnut. Really hope I can complete it all soon because I have to print out test prints today before class! How cute is that voodoo doll donut? LOL... I really need to go to Voodoo Doughnuts next time I'm in Portland. I'm pretty sure I know all their doughnuts by heart now.

Are you craving some doughnuts now?
I sure am!!!!!
How funny is the cock-n-balls doughnut or the maple blazer blunt?
Needless to say my class has sure enjoyed getting to see my doughnut art!!!
Hahaha :)
So nervous it's almost Friday which means it's almost Saturday
which means it's almost baby shower time!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be baking up a storm tonight!

Thursday DIY #3: Gold Mason Jars

It's about time I finally get around to posting about these! I spray painted the mason jars about a week ago. I bought 3... I think with one I want to put silverware in it & with another I'll put pens in it for the "Wishes for Baby" table. And straws in the third. I have a lot more to do to prepare for the shower! I will be one busy DIY-ing girl next week. But I just know it's going to turn out awesome & I think Jamie will really like it & have a great time! Things I need to sit down & complete: printing stuff, preparing games, finalizing the menu, writing out the food labels, making poms, garland & other decor, get silverware & that's pretty much it!! I'm pretty excited!

Pinteresting Thursday DIY #3: Gold Mason Jars

I really like how they turned out!!!!
Like how I got spray paint all over my fingers?
Yeah... I'm not the best at arts & crafts to say the least.

Homework Break! Voodoo Doughnut Time!

No new post today because I'm working on homework!
Actually a project I really enjoy!
Want a sneak peak?
I had to recreate a logo for a company, so I chose Voodoo Doughnuts.
I've finalized the logo so now I'm just working on the coasters & t-shirt designs!

Hehehe...
It's definitely favorite project we've done in Vector & Raster Graphics.
Do it to it!
Hope you all are having a lovely day!

P.S. I went on a major shopping spree today...
I spent a lot on new home decor from Kirklands & Target.
I'm really liking how everything is coming together!
Posts coming soon!!

Thursday DIY #2: Moon & Back

I've been eyeing this print for awhile. It's all over Pinterest & interior design blogs I follow. I love the simplicity & boldness of it. Well, this print is $60. Yes... $60 US dollars. Now as much as I wish I could just spend $60 on a POSTER not even including the frame, I just can't. So I decided to use my graphic design skills to create 2 prints for our bedroom. This is probably the easiest DIY project you could ever do. I found some frames at the Dollar General for $6 each. And then used Adobe Illustrator (my free trial) to create 8in x 10in prints of something I say to my lover way too often. He's working late tonight & hasn't come home yet, so I don't know if he's going to hate them or what, but I tried to make them not too girly.

Let me know what you guys think! I personally think they might fit better in a little kid's room, but I like the way they turned out. Although I do wish they were a little more navy blue & not so dark...

Yah so uh...
I ate all of my boyfriend's oreos...
& homemade cookies...
& fudge brownie pop tarts...
& chocolate ice cream...
& then I bought him a dark chocolate Kit Kat
when he doesn't even like dark chocolate & only I like dark chocolate...
So uhh.... I have a really bad sweet tooth obviously...
To make up for it I got him some oreos, a Hershey's & pop tarts.
I almost bought chocolate ice cream too, but then realized it would be sitting in my car for 4 hours.
Glad I realized that before buying it & having a puddle of chocolate in my car...

Thursday DIY #1: Jamie's Baby Shower

So Thursdays is going to be anything having to do with DIY.
Whether it's for an event, wedding, home decor, anything.
So, I am planning my cousin's baby shower!
The theme is Gold Giraffes & Champagne!
[Not literal champagne, but the color champagne.. tehehe]
I have so many fun ideas & I need to get started on making everything!
A lot of the stuff I wanna use is going to be DIY so I figured it was the perfect first post to my...
Thursday DIY series!

Thursday DIY #1: Jamie's Baby Shower

To-Do List:
1. Spray paint mason jars gold
[Lovely Little Details blog has a tutorial on this...
there isn't much to it, but I just wanted to mention her since
she is a really awesome blogger & was really helpful when
I asked her a formatting question about my blogger banner!]

2. Make poms with fabric or tissue paper
[Jessica Demaio at A Simple Kind of Love has a
great tutorial on how to make fabric poms.]

3. Follow up with Kelly
[Kelly is doing all the desserts for the shower.
Kelly is absolutely amazing to work with so far!
I e-mailed her & said can you do all the desserts on my Pinterest?
She said yes, I said you're hired!!!!]

4. Print out the Printable Invitations, Food Labels, & Cupcake Toppers
[Lauren at Details Beyond Design has been amazing with this!
I saw a Giraffe baby shower invite by her & she customized the colors for me!
She even put up with my lack-of-ability-in-using-Pay-Pal
& I'm so excited to feature her amazing printables!!]

Just Do It

If I didn't feel like a nimrod before, then I sure do now. I can't believe what I'm seeing right now on Hostess with the Mostest. Before I decided to buy my cousin's baby shower invitations off of Etsy from an amazing little shop, I actually created invitations that were chevron ombre with a giraffe outline on it in a damask print. & they were really cute but I was scared that people wouldn't like them. Now I am looking at one of my favorite blogs, Hostess with the Mostest, seeing something I had the idea to do 2 months ago but didn't because I was embarrassed!?!?

From now on I just need to do it. Stop over-thinking it & just do it. I might fail along the way, & I am sure at times I will fail along the way but at least I won't look back like this moment & regret not trying.. I don't ever want to think again.. wow I was going to do that but I just didn't get around to it or I was too scared to try & fail. Now I am super bummed I didn't do it first!
Now I just need to listen to my own words of wisdom & do what I dream. Goal: start my Etsy shop by next Tuesday. I have several ideas already stocked up in my head, and I need to just put aside a little bit each day to start it! On a related note, how amazing does the chevron ombre printables look? I am absolutely loving it all! It is 2 of my favorite trends mixed together!!! I think obviously it would have looked cuter with some giraffes on it... but it's still pretty amazing & adorable!!!

Now for some personal inspiration to get pumped up:
